Museum of Moving Image Sizzle Reel

Goals
The primary objective was to create a compelling video that encapsulates the Museum of the Moving Image’s (MoMI) mission and community impact. This video needed to convey to viewers the vital role MoMI plays as a cultural institution, showcasing its significance as a venue where people can immerse themselves in the rich history of moving images. The video also aimed to highlight the profound impact of MoMI’s programs on both children and adults who seek education, entertainment, and a sense of belonging at the museum.

Solution
We worked in collaboration with the MoMI team to produce a video that incorporated new and archival footage, interviews with community and staff members, offering personal insights into the museum’s influence. Iconic shots of MoMI’s interior and exterior, located in the historic heart of Astoria, Queens provided a visual anchor that underscored the museum’s cultural significance. The video was produced during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic which meant we had to adapt our production process to ensure the safety of our crew while still delivering high-quality content. We adhered to strict social distancing guidelines and wore masks during the in-person shoot. And we utilized remote capture software to gather additional footage, allowing us to maintain a comprehensive and cohesive narrative despite the restrictions.

Results
The final product debuted at MoMI’s annual gala, serving as a powerful prelude that underscored the museum’s importance in preserving moving image history. This video now functions as an evergreen piece of media, consistently communicating the value of MoMI’s efforts in preservation, education, and fostering community support. It stands as a testament to the museum’s resilience and adaptability, as well as its unwavering commitment to its mission, even in the face of unprecedented challenges.
